I thought I was done. With music. Something that had filled my soul with such joy, for so long. I told myself I had a good run, did lots of wonderful projects, made some amazing music with wonderful friends along the way, and even wrote a trilogy that encapsulated it all, and then some. But, I told myself that I was too old, a busy mom working a semi creative job to keep my kids futures afloat, cheering them on as they grew. Music, I told myself was for them now- and once and awhile I would sing a song with Tony and smile… but that was it. Wall of Tom had crumbled after the pandemic, we lost friends and we lost family, our hearts just weren’t in it anymore…
But then one day three months ago, we got a group text from Michael, wondering if, just maybe, we wanted to jam. Sometimes that’s all you need is a little nudge… so we tried it, and it worked, and it was different. We rounded up a new drummer, a seasoned pro transplant from Portland with a Seattle way of playing and a 90’s grunge feel. Wall of Tom’s new sound is harder, faster and well, rockin’- it feels closer to how it felt at the beginning, when we started as a four piece alternative rock band. And now we have reworked original songs that we never played before and turns out- I’m not dead after all. None of us are, and we feel everything that is happening out there in the world and we are pulling it into the studio and making it ours- and let me tell you - it feels fucking fantastic. In a place where cover bands rule the stages, this original band is back, and bringing the musings to life once again- LOUD. First show is June 6th, more details to follow…

There was a moment in the middle of our set, when I couldn’t help but choke up- at the overwhelming feeling of happiness that was filling up my soul. To say that I have missed singing and performing with these amazing humans is a severe understatement. I am incredibly grateful to be together again, to get on stage again, and to sing these songs for you again. Covid has been immensely tough on all of us, and there were many times I thought I would never play together again, and that depression was very real in my heart- but this here is pure joy for me. We are back at it, and it feels even better than I remembered. As a band we will still be a bit choosey about what shows we play, to stay safe for ourselves and our families, but we look forward to many more in the future. Hey everybody, how the heck are ya? Wow, it’s been awhile since we posted, I guess we’ve been a touch distracted. Since this whole Covid thing hit, we had to lock down and take care of our families, so we really haven’t seen each other in the flesh since. I guess we could have been posting videos with our phones like everyone else, but I feel like that is a dime a dozen and I don’t usually do what everyone else is doing either. So I wrote a couple songs with my kids, who I’ve been homeschooling and they started their own band @theneweysband at age ten and seven, we shot a music video and have let them take over the reins a bit. I don’t know, I just felt tired of all the trying so hard and kinda enjoyed the idea of being a momma, a writer and you know, staying alive. But ... rest has never been my strong suit, and I am missing the stage, my band, and damn it, I miss you all that like to listen to Wall of Tom for all these years. So here’s the deal, we are sitting on a pretty fun song that we were going to release with Drive through Fire last year, and I’m tired of sitting. Tony and I are gonna dust it off, sanitize it of course, then let it go for all of you who need a little more Rock N’ Roll in your life. And even though it feels like we will never play to a crowd again, I have hope that sometime, someway, we will all be together again, smiling and singing, at the top of our lungs. Sending peace, love and hair grease to you all- stay safe, and stay tuned for more .

Interview Part 2: What is Tommie talking about, a song that's been through the wringer? "A scorching hot love song, rising from the ashes of yet another disaster- it's just Wall of Tom's style." says Vaughn, who's intoxicating indie band in the last three years, has withstood a handful of natural disasters. "From Mini Burst Tornadoes to Wild Fires, then Mudslides to more Fires, we weathered a lot of storms together living on the central coast of California. So the corona virus wont stop us from releasing this heartfelt song about our own journey through the fire." Tommie is eluding to her bands tumultuous history of being their own 'un-natural' disaster, with inner relationship drama between bandmates, ending with the exit of long time bass player Ryan Hensley. "There was a bit of Fleetwood Mac vibes going on, it was heavy and kinda hot too- made for some great music, especially this song, Drive through Fire." The song is an end and a new beginning, combining the bass strings of past and present, as the band has introduced it's new member, Michael Robinson, taking over for Hensley- while both being able to add their own musical styling that were used on the song. "This song, was inspired in the beginning by the wild fires, and a broken relationship- then it took on a new meaning when the band imploded. But once again, we picked ourselves up and are stronger now because of all we have went through together. The virus outbreak has made it tough on us as a band to play, our promo release tour was cancelled, like so many others, but we are safe here at home- so why not give you a heartfelt song to listen to?"
